When Missing Loved Ones Becomes a Lifestyle
I grew upwards missing people. My father was a company man — a corporate nomad — so when it came time to movement again, we packed upwards and went where the career opportunities led him.
The only place he ever declined to movement was Utah. That's because no 1 in their right mind agrees to move to Utah. (Hey, no offense.)
Growing up, I missed friends, neighbors, and classmates across half-dozen states. Relationships were temporary. Living hundreds of miles from relatives, we visited them once or twice a twelvemonth. For seven years, my dad worked 2nd shift so he could climb that corporate ladder; often I missed him, as well.
When I attended college, naturally it was out-of-state. Then, I landed a corporate job much similar his and continued the nomadic lifestyle of corporate relocations and missing people.
Once I became a parent, however, I sought to ensure that my ain daughter didn't grow up missing people she loved. I wanted to give her the gift of being "from" somewhere. I wanted to give her the gift of not continually feeling loss or separation from all that was familiar.
We at present alive a stone'due south throw from my parents and other family. Corporate nomads eventually find their oasis, and it'south rarely at the top of the organizational ladder.
Where is your oasis?

I met my soulmate while living in Europe as a teenager. We'd spend ours days dreaming nearly a future together. Just, her family abruptly left the country and disappeared. The twenty-four hours I watched her board the plane crying is amongst the worst days of my life.
We knew we'd probably never see each other again and promised to always remember, and observe each other in the next life.
In the years since, I've searched, but never institute whatsoever trace of her.
And, while my life went on, I've never forgotten her.
The song that ever makes me end and think well-nigh her and what could accept been is "Who Wants to Alive Forever" by Queen. Similar in the vocal, we just weren't fated to exist together. Simply, we had our 1 sweet moment - our forever.

All her life, I am sure that she missed the man he used to exist and the life she used to have. But you lot didn't hear her griping. People could borrow a good role model. Thank you for reading. Some nice writing and some good tunes.
The juxtaposition of songs about existent, raw bodily emotion to some of the made up nonsense apropos "micro-aggressions" on college campuses today is startling. We used to use things like music to cope with anxiety and depression. Then nosotros moved to drugging virtually a whole society and now we are beginning to see a generation that act every bit if they are so delicate yous can't even ask where they were built-in for fearfulness of hurting their feelings.
